Rani Durgavati: history and tradition

Durgavati governed as regent for her young son after Dalpat Shah’s death. Her rule is associated with the prosperity of Garha-Katanga. A Mughal army under Asaf Khan invaded in 1564. Durgavati died resisting the invasion. Her son also died in the conflict.
